In 1984, at the age of 15, Mary Decker set three world indoor track records. At one point she held U.S. records in seven outdoor track events (the mile, 800, 1,500, 2,000, 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 meters) and eight indoor track events (the 800 and 2,000 meters, the 880 and 1,000 yards, the mile and two-mile and the 1,500 and 3,000 meters, the last six of which were world bests).
