In 1984, Olympic gold medalist Ulrike Meyfarth became the oldest woman high jump gold medalist in Olympic history. In 1972, she was the youngest gold medalist winner (at age 16 years, 123 days old). She also joined America’s Al Oerter as the only track and field athlete to win an individual gold medal 12 years apart in the same event.
