GoGirlGo! Atlanta Grants

DEADLINE: Applications are due in the GoGirlGo! Atlanta office on or before March 31, 2008 by 5:00 p.m. You may mail, courier or hand-deliver proposals to the Women’s Sports Foundation’s GoGirlGo! Atlanta Office,3525 Piedmont Road, NE; Building 7, Suite 102, Atlanta, GA 30305. The purpose of GoGirlGo! Grants is to provide financial assistance to sports and physical activity programs seeking to add new or expanded program participation opportunities for an under-served population of girls, particularly economically disadvantaged girls and/or girls from populations with high incidences of health-risk behaviors. Delivery of a minimum 8-week sports/physical activity program with preference given to organizations working consistently with girls throughout the year. A total of $120,000 in funding is available.

GoGirlGo! Boston Grants

DEADLINE: The Letter of Inquiry (LOI) is due on January 7, 2008. All LOIs submitted for review will be notified within one week of their invitation to apply for a grant. LOIs invited to submit grant applications must do so by February 14, 2008. To download the LOI go to www.gogirlgoboston.com.

The purpose of GoGirlGo! Grants is to provide financial assistance to sports and physical activity programs seeking to add new or expanded program participation opportunities for an under-served population of girls, particularly economically disadvantaged girls and/or girls from populations with high incidences of health-risk behaviors. A total of up to $200,000 will be awarded (with grants ranging from $2,000-$25,000) to Boston organizations within the 128 loop.

GoGirlGo! National Grants

DEADLINE: Applications must be received at the Women’s Sports Foundation office on or before May 9, 2008.

The purpose of GoGirlGo! Grants is to provide financial assistance to sports/physical activity programs seeking to add new or expand program participation opportunities for an under-served population of girls, particularly economically disadvantaged girls and/or girls from populations with high incidences of health-risk behaviors. Delivery of a minimum 8-week sports/physical activity program with preference given to organizations working consistently with girls throughout the year. A total of $430,000 will be awarded. Programs that serve girls in metro Atlanta, GA (Clayton, Cobb, Cherokee, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties), metro Boston, metro Chicago, IL (Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties) and San Antonio, TX (Bexar County) are NOT eligible to apply.

GoGirlGo! San Antonio Grants

DEADLINE: All applications are due in the San Antonio Sports Foundation office on or before March 14, 2008 by 5:00 pm. All applicants will be notified of grant decisions by June 2008. To download the guidelines and application go to www.sanantoniosports.org/gogirlgo.htm.

The purpose of GoGirlGo! Grants is to provide financial assistance to sports and physical activity programs seeking to add new or expanded program participation opportunities for an under-served population of girls, particularly economically disadvantaged girls and/or girls from populations with high incidences of health-risk behaviors. Delivery of a minimum 8-week sports/physical activity program with preference given to organizations working consistently with girls throughout the year. A total of $100,000 in funding is available for San Antonio and Bexar County.

Jump Start Program

DEADLINE: The Jump Start Grant Program is available in 2008 through the Lyn St. James Foundation.

The Jump Start Grant Program was established in 1990 with Ford Motor Company. The program provides financial support to young women who otherwise might not be able to participate in motor sports. Funding is available to individuals, organizations, clubs or institutions providing automotive sport and or automotive safety-related programs for girls and women.

The Women's Sports Foundation is a national nonprofit, educational, member-based organization dedicated to promoting the lifelong participation of all girls and women in sports and fitness. Established in 1974 by Billie Jean King, its founder; Donna de Varona, a founding member and its first president; and many other champion female athletes, the Foundation seeks to create an educated public that encourages females' participation and supports gender equality in sport.

Margaret Howe first won the National Women’s Squash Championships (Hardball) in 1929 and won her fifth championship 24 years later in 1953.
